FrogListener Project |
|
The FrogListener Program (available in the Downloads
section of the site) provides a process by which a tape can be played into a computer
audio port, the sound analyzed via short time Fourier transforms, and the results
filtered through a user-defined signature to report call density per sample, and other
elements of importance. In addition, the program provides output in an Excel-friendly
format, which makes it integrate easily into most existing processes for data
transcription. A screenshot can be seen below. Including detailed descriptions for the production of these signatures by even non-technical workers, the program is available in a standard Microsoft .msi install format, or the source code is provided freely for modification by any user, provided the license agreement (included in the ReadMe file for the program) is followed. Questions about the program, the processing code, or any other element may be e-mailed to me, and I will answer at my earliest possible convenience. Although the interface was developed for frogs, it would be easily possible to modify it and adapt the signature files to any other animal recording program that calculates relationships between call saturation and species population. Also available in the Downloads section is a full report (in MS-Word format) on the project, including references and figures. |
